Brighton Collectibles

Brighton Collectibles is a store that I really never knew that much about. I always notice their beautiful accessories, so I wanted to explore and learn more!

Here is a little bit about them:
The concept for Brighton began over thirty years ago when Terri Kravitz and Jerry Kohl, high school sweethearts, opened a specialty retail store. Together they learned the importance of customer service and beautifully made products. In 1991, Terri and Jerry launched Brighton Collectibles with a single collection of belts. Over the years, Brighton has expanded their products to include a full line of coordinating accessories and footwear. A customer might choose a lipstick case that matches a wallet, earrings that match a pair of sunglasses, a handbag that matches footwear, or an entire coordinating collection consisting of multiple accessories. Every item is adorned with a heart, symbolizing the company’s mission to offer creative and inspired products that will touch people’s hearts.

Pretty and Polished

I love to stop into Madewell to see what is new! One of the things I especially love is all of the dresses they show… Just in time for the warmer weather! Nothing is easier and says Spring more than a cute dress!

Their dresses are just so versatile! I never look at their dresses and think they are necessarily “Dressy” because for the most part they have a laid back appeal.

Let’s take a look at the store!  Taking a glimpse at how the store fashions the mannequins can be so helpful and useful when trying to put your own looks together!  Have you ever purchased an exact look you saw on display??

An instant party favorite, this prettily printed dress (inspired by a vintage painting our designers unearthed) combines form, function and fun.

Here is a nice example of their dresses that have an every day look/any event appeal!  Notice how you can throw a scarf on to change the look?  Or a long necklace… or what about a denim vest or denim shirt? I love a cross body bag too!

But a MUST HAVE this season is the denim vest!! It looks so cool over a sundress!  What do you think?  Digging it or not? I think it is a great layering piece!

Mad for Maxis…

MAXImize your look with these BUDGET friendly finds!!

I’ve been talking a bit about the denim vest trend… Well, here you go!  Wouldn’t you know it, these are at Wet Seal! Denim outerwear is a classic wardrobe staple.

I also L.O.V.E. an infinity scarf to add a nice pop of color, texture and interest! For  example, check out the black maxi dress with the white denim vest and the orangey/peachy infinity scarf!  I love that color combo! So visually interesting and instantly chic! I am also super into cool hats to shade your face from the sun! You must protect your skin from sun damage so you may as well look cool while doing so!

Well Vested

Play it cool and casual with some help from Pac Sun!

They have everything you need to welcome the warmer temps! I was drawn into the store because of their denim vest display! I’ve been a bit obsessed with these vests that are popping up everywhere! But as usual, I always take a good once-over to see what new trends I may observe.

For those that like bustiers, they did have a bunch of choices…

Cropped bustier tank tops…

Bustiers can keep you cool under a denim vest! Plus, the crop top is a big trend this season. Also try with a maxi skirt or an oversized chambray shirt.

So, I am absolutely loving vests as a major layering piece this season! Pair with jeans and a tank, maxi dresses, minis, shorts… almost anything! Pac Sun had lots of options!

Did you know about the Kendall & Kyle Exclusive Clothing Collection only at PacSun. The reality tv stars are the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner family and launched their line in February.

The Kendall & Kylie x PacSun collaboration blends the casual-yet-chic sensibility of the sisters with the spirit of California.

Their latest collection, is filled with shorts, dresses & swimwear. “It’s just a chill, relaxed cool line,” Kendall, 17, says, of their designs.

On the hotter days ahead, leave your jean jacket behind and opt for a wear-with-everything denim vest!  It adds a touch of cool to virtually any look while also adding a lighter layer of warmth without the bulk!

Another option is to just chop the sleeves off an old denim jacket that you may not be loving anymore! Presto – a new wardrobe item in your closet without spending a cent!

I think it is a trend worth investing in!! Haha…

Dressing for 2….

Are you pregnant or know someone who is?? Lucky for you, Natick Mall has Gap Maternity!  I took a spin through the maternity section to fill you in!!

Meet your new best friend!  The Dress…

From Day to Night and all season long, it is an entire out in one step!

And when you are pregnant, let’s face it. Dressing can be tough enough as it is.  When

it is a dress and you just have to throw it on, it certainly makes the day that much easier!

So, I often pop into Gap because I love how they have all 3 stores right next to each other.

Babies, kids and adults! Plus, bathrooms and a water fountain!!!  :)

Then as a TOTAL bonus for those expecting… they have a bathroom in the back of the store right off the maternity section!

Definitely comes in handy!!

So, here is what I noticed.. it is all about the dress!

This dress could be great for your baby shower or any dressy occasion you may have to go to while preggo!

This cotton wrap dress looks super comfy while still staying stylish!  So versatile! Could

be worn day to night! I totally see this with a cute black necklace, black cardigan with black ballet flats!

You can probably get away with your own non-maternity cardigan or black blazer just left open!

helpful!  I love the bright colored teeshirts and the classic black and white!  Easy and versatile

pieces are KEY while pregnant!

Looking for a wardrobe staple that while make you look totally fashionable every time you wear it?

This maxi dress is it! This cotton dress feels like a comfy tee shirt!

Try it with a cardigan and ballet flats for  a business casual day in the office. With a pair of flip flops and a wide brimmed hat it’s a day at the beach. Try with a jean jacket and infinity scarf as a nice transitional look into the soon-to-be-here warmer weather!  It is soft, flows nicely, flatters the bump, and the colors are dreamy.

I bet you will want to live in it 24/7!

Remember your accessories to really pull your look together!  Scarfs, bangles, necklaces… none of that stops just because you are preggo!

There is no reason to say you have nothing to wear! You just need a few key pieces when you start to get bigger that are versatile enough to interchange!

My number one piece of advice is to make sure it is comfortable!  If it isn’t, you will be miserable and will be totally preoccupied with how uncomfortable you are!

The Blazer

A MUST HAVE for your wardrobe for any season is a BLAZER!  If this is your first time purchasing a blazer, I would say to go for a black one since it is so very versatile season after season!

There are a few different fits to consider as well.  There is tailored, boyfriend and cropped…   This is NOT an easy decision!!!

I would vote to go with a tailored one as well if it is your first since it is a classic style that shouldn’t really get dated.  You want to make sure that it buttons when trying it on. The sleeves should hit at your wrist and the blazer should land at your hips.  This is known as an office essential and looks great with blouses, shells, boyfriend jeans and dresses.  But it is so versatile that you can try it in many different ways!

  • Long sleeves with three-button cuffs.
  • Notched collar.

  • Angled welt pocket on chest.

  • Vent along rear hem.

The boyfriend fit should fit on the shoulders but ends up loose on the waist. It also falls about 2-3 inches below the hips.  You really don’t want it much longer than that.  This blazer has a more casual feel, so roll up the sleeves a bit. This would look cute in a lot of scenarios… but try with some colored denim or even try belting it!  Again, could be perfect over a dress!

A cropped blazer generally his at about the waist – maybe a tiny bit above or below. The trick with this is to make sure it fits your shoulders and isn’t too tight.  The cropped blazer is very feminine and could work perfectly with a dress or try with a v neck tee….

The key is to just try the blazer on with different looks to see when it works and when it doesn’t. I find it is the perfect layering piece on a cooler evening in the Spring/Summer.

Which one you decide to go for is completely up to you!  It is so hard to decide! if you don’t really need to wear a blazer to work, then you may want to just go with the Boyfriend Blazer first!  It is so hard to decide! Plus, there are so many color options and prints to pick from… not-to-mention a ton of different stores!

They are showing blazers with almost anything now… as you can see, even shorts! So, just have some fun and experiment!!

In the Loop

Spring… While for many this may signal the end of scarf season, it as actually an opportunity to try the lightest and brightest scarves in a series of new ways!

So, today I gathered a bunch of options for your to check out!

A store I often forget about is Land’s End right inside of Sears!  Here is a peek at some of their bright and airy scarf options!  You know I am loving that green one all the way to the left!  But those florals are beautiful and loving all the brights as well!
