Hot Heels

A great shoe makes everything better.  But it is obviously a necessity when completing your party look! Having the wrong shoe can really take your look in the wrong direction… so do not underestimate the importance of the perfect heels!

If your want to be more practical about it, then go with a nude color or if you dress is black, then you can never go wrong with classic black. These are shoes that you should be able to wear again and again.  However, if you are a shoe collector… than having some fun with your shoes is a MUST….

So I rounded up a handful that caught me eye….

So, have fun putting the whole look together! But definitely try it all on to make sure it works. Sometimes we think in our head that sparkly pumps are the way to go. Then you try it on with the dress and it just doesn’t work – or it doesn’t work with the clutch.  So, have a dry run and make sure you are loving the whole thing. Even take a picture and look at it yourself or text it to a friend and get feedback!  OF course if you go more classic than bold, there is less risk involved, but I can’t tell you how many times I go to put something on and then hate it!  Then panic sets in… Haha… I end up in a whole different look than I planned!

This just recently happened to me in January. I had this party I was going to and planned a whole look. I put it on and hated it for the occasion. I actually liked the look for a different occasion and did end up wearing it, so it all worked out.  But, for that night? I searched through my closet and found a dress that still had a tag on it… haha, love when that happens!  Even though it goes against everything I tell you (- never keep anything for more than a week that you haven’t worn. It means it just wasn’t meant to be and you should return it while you still have the receipt)!  Haha, however in my case, it was a dress from my husband from last Christmas that I didn’t have the heart to return. Anyway, the right opportunity presented itself and I switched over to plan B….  I might have been a year later, but I finally wore the dress he bought me! :)

Then it gave me the time to figure out what didn’t work with the first look I had in mind and was able to make it work the next time I put it on.  It actually came down to the right accessories. I needed some statement jewelry to really make it work – which I then went out and got… So, luckily it all worked out. BUT, it is much better to have that dry run so you have time to fix it.

Let me know how you do! Always lean on a friend during a “Fashion Emergency”…. I almost always do.  Frantic texts with lots of pictures and questions always end up happening!  That is what makes me love my friends….. :)

So, I actually was by  JC Penney when I stumbled on Sephora being conveniently right inside.  I found myself just walking straight into Sephora’s section! I love Urban Decay’s Naked palette… It has such great neutrals in it but also the perfect sparkly shades to step it up for an evening look.

It lasts forever too! I first was introduced to it when I saw my sister using it. Since then, I purchased it for myself and for a good go-to gift for friends!

Hmm… So, even though I have more makeup than I know what to do with, I totally want to treat myself! I want the matte shadows and I want to try the Naked Flushed. I didn’t allow myself to buy any but I don’t know how long I can hold out!  Those matte neutrals for eyes look perfect! Plus I feel like I could use them in conjunction with my other palette. I really don’t wear bronzer, so I could probably get away with buying that! We could all use a little bronzer in the dead of winter, right?

Giftastic!

I’m a huge fan of finding amazing deals at Forever 21.  They offer so many fun items at such great prices that I can get really creative with it and pull a bunch of small stuff together to make a neat present.

It was my niece’s 15th birthday and she asked me for some earrings. I immediately knew that I was going to head to Forever 21.  But while there, I had to of course explore the store to it’s fullest because I can’t miss a thing!

So, take a good look!

I ended up grabbing a cute pink sparkly make up bag as the holder of the presents… I then grabbed 2 sets of 9 packs of stud earrings…. I already had a new phone case for her that she specifically asked for – so I was going to put all this fun stuff into the makeup bag.  I then saw a pretty sparkly cotton scarf that I just had to grab for her as well.  All this stuff was so inexpensive that I could have kept going!  But it all fit perfectly in the small makeup bag!  Isn’t it fun to open a bag that just keeps revealing surprises?  Then you get this really cute bag to use for something after!  I mean, she could use this to store almost anything – not just makeup!

I also took note of all of their great cross body bags that would be great for any night out!  I definitely couldn’t help grabbing myself a few inexpensive belts – ever since my gold belt find at Forever 21 for under $5, I have been dreaming of going back and buying some skinny belts in black. So, I bought 3 more… I want to try a skinny belt over a peplum shirt to see how if it works… and I feel like I’m super into skinny belts right now and can’t have enough of them! Now I am going to need more shirts to wear with them!  Girl Problems!!

Anyway, I definitely saw a ton of cute stuff. I almost always want to stop in whenever I need a “Girl” gift because they have so many fun things that you can really scoop up at a bargain!  You just need to have at least some idea of which way you want to go with it.  For a young girl, I like the makeup bag idea with their cheap $1 lip gloss and maybe a nail care kit with some nail polish.  Sometimes I can find a cute hand mirror and brush to throw in as well. I try to make each gift different and base it on what I know about the girl or party. More into jewelry? Then grabbing stud earrings… Now that it is winter, snagging a cute scarf, hat or gloves is also a great gift!  And, they also have great hair accessories!

I think this is the ULTIMATE store to buy a girl stocking stuffers!  Trust me and try it for yourself!

I have found that they have all the hottest trends in clothing as well!  Every teenage girl has to LOVE this store!

Pretty Young Thing….

I recently had one of those keratin type treatments done to my hair, so when I wash it, it is amazingly straight and not frizzy. Today, I had freshly washed hair and had decided to not curl it at all.  I was literally the perfect candidate to either have someone show me how to make my hair even smoother with a flat iron… or, to have curls put in for a total transformation.

PYT lured me over…. and today I just couldn’t say no!

So, I sat down and enjoyed having someone else curl my hair for me!

Normally, it can take me almost an hour to curl my own hair….  and she promised me it wouldn’t take very long!

I normally curl my hair with a curling iron, so I was a bit intrigued with this idea of just using a flat iron…

It is definitely a different type of curl, but very pretty.  You kind of do it like you are curling a ribbon… You wrap your hair around the flat iron and then just pull slowly…

Here I am now with curled hair!

I ended up being sold on the infrared technology, that the iron is 100% ceramic… and that is reaches 450 degrees.  I have a GHD flat iron right now, but have been frustrated that I can’t control the heat temperature. Plus, I look forward to playing with the iron to see if I can create this look on my own! I’ll keep you posted!

All Primped out!

This was a special day at the Mall for me… My girlfriend Michelle decided to meet up with me for today’s visit! She brought along her 5 year old son, Joe who was a great sport! There was a ton going on, such as free make-up consultations by MAC. So, I thought it would be awesome to help Michelle get all primped out!!

Michelle was game and wanted to get a quick lesson on how to apply a smokey eye!
