So, it is kind of funny. One day one of my sisters made a comment to me… (I have 3) Something along the lines of, “you are so funny. You always wear what you buy right away.” She said that because she was with me when I purchased a new shirt and then I literally wore it the next day. To me, it was like, well, why wouldn’t I? Isn’t that the whole reason to buy it in the first place? You buy something because you can’t wait to wear it… right?
This point was driven home to me over a little vaca I just took. I actually had time to read a few magazines… One woman said that her personal rule was that if she didn’t wear something she purchased in one week then she returns it. WOW. Great point! I mean, when I don’t wear it right away, it does often sit in the closet and ends up forgotten.
So, I’m wondering… does anyone else follow this type of advice and not even realize it? Or do you see the reasoning? Because I think I actually totally get it and think that this woman from an article I read – don’t ask me WHAT magazine or WHO wrote it – but I think she is actually right.
If I don’t wear it right away, something IS wrong. AND, I should just return it immediately. SO… from now on, I am going to start to pay better attention to my buying habits and really see how quickly I wear it. Because it does happen all the time. I actually still have a shirt I bought a month ago that I thought was great at the time and I still haven’t worn it and have been wondering why I thought it was so great. I probably can’t find the receipt either because it has been at least a month now. So… this one week timeframe rule?? I think is actually brilliant. You still have the receipt, so go on and return it before you forget and buy something that you do TRULY LOVE and CANNOT wait to wear it!
What do you think?
This may be one of my resolutions! Of course returning stuff is a pain because then you have to find the time to go back, but that is an entirely different issue!!
I often use the excuse of returning something as almost like a payment plan… so, say the shirt was $50, you can then exchange it for something that is $100 and feel like you only spent $50… who is with me on this one?! Hee, hee..
SSShhhhh! total secret justification at it’s finest!!!!!!!
No but honestly, in my defense here, if it does cost more money, perhaps it is money well spent because instead of a useless shirt that is just sitting in your closet, it is money well spent if you end up wearing it and loving it, right??
So, I resolve to return it if I don’t wear it right away…. who is with me?!
