Game Night, Tonight @ The Brain Store!

Marbles: The Brain Store will be hosting a game night this Thursday!

It will be in the store, TONIGHT from 5:30-9:30. They simply clear off their tables in the store, and highlight 4-5 of their favorite games for everyone. All ages and families are invited, and it usually is a fun time had by all!

Speed, spatial reasoning skills, a good memory and a little bit of luck are all you need to win the game of Q-Bitz. Players race to be the first to recreate patterns on the game cards using their set of 16 colorful cubes. Win the round to keep the card. The player with the most cards wins. Since each round offers a new type of visual challenge, Q-Bitz plays to the strengths of different types of players. Round one is all about speed. Round two rolls in some luck. And round three really puts the ol' gray matter to the test by asking players to be the first to recreate a pattern from memory.

They are a one-of-a-kind retail store with a smart collection of hand-picked, expert-tested, certifiably fun ways to a healthier brain for all ages.

Rory’s Story Cubes contains nine cubes with 54 images. Just roll the cubes and come up with a story that links together all nine face-up images. So, say you get images of a bumblebee, a turtle and a crescent moon. Your story might go like this: Once upon a time, there was a bumblebee named “Turtle,” which was a very unfortunate name for a bumblebee. However, his parents wished upon a crescent moon for a turtle and got a bumblebee instead…. Hey, don’t laugh. There are no wrong answers here. Just hours of creative play that can serve as an ice-breaker, literacy development, mental workout and more.

Their stores are designed to let you roll up your sleeves and get a little brainy while you play games, solve puzzles, try out software and flip through books to find the right products for you and your noggin. Brain Box: All Around the USA gives players 10 seconds to study an illustrated card and memorize as many details as possible. Then, players roll the dice to determine which question they’ll be asked about the card. This clever memory game teaches players little-known facts about the 50 states while boosting visual perception and recall skills.

Here are some exciting new games you can look forward to playing:

The first is Gotcha!

Gotcha is a delightful romp as players issue opponents rules they need to follow throughout the game. Rules like, compliment yourself during your turn, or only speak with your teeth clenched! If a player breaks a rule, it’s up to the group to catch them in the act!

The second new addition is Letter Roll.

Think Boggle meets Scattergories, as players roll of to four twelve-sided letter dice each round. Players must then use those letter to create the longest list of words in one minute that contain those letters somewhere in each word! Highest score wins, but you better not be making up words!

The third is Distraction.

Research shows that it is difficult for humans to memorize a sequence of numbers longer than seven digits. We put that skill to the test as players try to out memorize a list of numbers, but have to stop at random points to answer silly questions which can really throw off your concentration!

And finally I included a picture of the “Change Your Brain, Change Your Life Cookbook” that their own BrainCoach Kate will be cooking a smorgasbord from on Thursday for everyone!
